GCSE Analysis

The Cedars Admin • 18 February 2018

The  final publication of GCSE statistical analysis  was released by the Department for Education on 25th January. The first release, which usually takes place in October, relates to maintained schools only but the January release combined the results of both maintained and independent schools.
Some measures, such as Progress 8, are only available for maintained schools but there are three which apply to both sectors: proportion of pupils achieving 5+ A*-C (or equivalent) including English and Mathematics; Attainment 8 score and EBacc percentage. In the Croydon league table we were 1st, 4th and 3rd respectively on those scores, a pleasing outcome which reflects well on both the boys concerned and their teachers. This was in spite of one pupil – approximately 6% of our small cohort! – who was regarded as having failed Mathematics GCSE because he achieved an A* in Year 10 and then an A* with distinction in Further Mathematics during Year 11.
